Job Description
Outstanding opportunity for an Lead Engineer to join our client’s maintenance team on a high end data centre based in Hertford! This is a great role to expand your skills and knowledge within a state of the art, critical property, join a market leading building service provider, be part of an experienced team and to further develop your leadership skills.
As the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of maintenance engineers, carry out PPM and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, book in subcontractors, write up RAMs / Permits, report into the Account Manager and ensure all critical systems are running efficiently.
To be successful in this Lead Engineer role, you must be fully qualified in either electrical installations / engineering or a mechanical related trade (City and Guilds / EAL / NVQ or equivalent), at least 5 years experience in commercial building maintenance, a great understanding of critical systems and prior experience as a lead / supervisor.
Lead Engineer Duties:
- Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to reactive electrical tasks across the campus.
- Take ownership of the emergency lighting systems, including regular testing and maintenance in line with compliance requirements.
- Conduct site surveys, prepare quotations, and deliver additional electrical works as requested by the client.
- Support the management team in delivering a customer-focused, high-quality service across all operational functions.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety standards, including adherence to Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
- Promptly escalate critical issues and respond to outages, service interruptions, and emergencies in accordance with the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Oversee and coordinate the work of subcontractors when required.
- Recommend system and service improvements through the Engineering Manager.
- Communicate urgent tasks and high-priority issues clearly and promptly within the management team.
- Reporting to senior management.
Lead Engineer Requirements:
- Fully qualified in Electrical Installations / Engineering or a Mechanical related trade (City and Guilds / EAL / NVQ or equivalent)
- At least 5 years experience within commercial building maintenance
- Prior experience as a lead / supervisor
- Great understanding of critical systems
- Experience in a Data Centre / High Voltage Switching – Desirable
Salary and Package:
- £60,000 – £65,000 per annum
- High voltage training provided
