Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 + Car Allowance + Paid Mileage
Location: M23/M25 Corridor (Croydon, Horsham, Guildford)
Contract: Monday – Friday, Full-time, Permanent
The Opportunity
Our client is a market-leading contract caterer specialising in school food. They don’t just serve meals—they create fantastic food experiences that fuel young minds. As Area Support Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of Primary and Secondary school contracts, leading kitchen teams to deliver an exceptional food operation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, your success will be measured by the quality, consistency, and retention of the business. This is a fantastic “step-up” role for an ambitious Chef Manager or Group Manager looking to move into area-wide management.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management: Build and nurture trusting relationships with new and existing clients, delivering exceptional service to ensure long-term retention.
Operational Excellence: Conduct regular unit audits to maintain strict adherence to company systems, procedures, and legislation.
Strategic Support: Assist the Operations Manager in executing action plans to guarantee a service-led operation that consistently exceeds expectations.
Training & Development: Identify training gaps across your sites, ensuring all teams are fully compliant and proactively coached to elevate their skills.
Business Growth: Support the strategic expansion of the region by assisting with sales presentations and ensuring the smooth mobilisation of new contracts.
The Ideal Profile
Experience: A proven leader from the hospitality or contract catering sector (experience within school catering is highly desirable).
People Leadership: Skilled at coaching and developing teams, instilling a shared passion for high standards.
Communication: Confident in leading client meetings, managing expectations, and resolving operational challenges quickly and professionally.
Process-Led: Equally focused on great service and rigorous compliance, ensuring all procedures and systems are followed.
Technical Skills: High level of initiative with strong computer skills and a desire for continuous professional achievement.
